What is video streaming?

Streaming video is content sent in compressed form over the Internet and displayed by the viewer in real time.
With streaming video, a Web user does not have to wait to download a file to play it. After a brief period of initializing and buffering, the file will begin to stream or play.


Nowadays there are so many websites that provide streaming video. Eg. YouTube


The picture quality is depending on bandwidth (download speed) and computer processor speed.


The user needs a player, which is a program that uncompressed and sends video data to the display. A player can be either an integral part of a browser or downloaded from the software maker’s Web site.


Most of the streaming video websites uses integrated flash player which can directly play on the website page without needing any player to download and view it.
